We've been using it in vp44 diesel's for years to save the pump's. ULSD removes all the lubricity.

This has been done with gasoline engines in the marine world for years. Some people tried to run it all the time, others such as myself just added some here and there. Can't say anyone saw a performance increase, and when you only get 2 MPG @ cruise you wont even notice a 5% increase in economy . Where it was thought to help was in lubricating the internals as marine engines are run under constant high load. It was also thought to help guard against moisture related issues.

When it came time to winterize, we would take a new fuel / water separator filter and add 1/2 STA-BIL and 1/2 two-stroke engine oil to it. Fire up the engines and let it run for about 30 seconds to a minute. This would fog the cylinders, injectors, fuel lines and pumps for winter. This was also the recommended winterization process from Mercury Racing for all of their gasoline V8 engines.

            Interesting.

When I raced go karts (4 stroke briggs) we would use 2 stroke oil instead of regular oil in the case. It's thinner for less drag, and anything that blows by burns easily and helps keep things lubricated and clean. I never thought about mixing it with gas.

Take note of the proper way to winterize your "boat".

I sell "Neutra" a Schaeffers Oil Product, works better than 2cycle oil IMO... Is more expensive.

Two-stroke oil is really popular with the rotary cloud. Certain 2-stroke oils can be hard on the cats. If it isn't ashless, it's not good to put into a catted motor.
