My washing machine temp control does not change, no matter what setting i have it on, its always just warm, not hot, not cold, so i took a volt meter and checked continuity with the six prongs on the temp control switch. on every setting, i get a reading, but, the reading is not always 0 on the meter, so could the switch be bad? Thanks.
Electricians please help me.

yep, i have to move the test leads as i rotate the switch, on a couple settings it reads 000 and on another setting it read like 060 or something like that, and on one other setting it read about 320.Originally posted by xjfish View PostSounds like a bad switch to me. Does the resistance change steadily as switch is turned?

Without knowing what the switch is supposed to ohm out at, I'd check elsewhere first. Is the hot side hose kinked or collapsed?Originally posted by 351capri View Postyep, i have to move the test leads as i rotate the switch, on a couple settings it reads 000 and on another setting it read like 060 or something like that, and on one other setting it read about 320.Dear Government, eventually the people with money will tell you to fuck off, and stop paying for those that don't work

No, no matter what setting its on, you can feel both hoses and both hot and cold water are entering. Im thinking its not the inlet valveOriginally posted by Fernanernie View PostWithout knowing what the switch is supposed to ohm out at, I'd check elsewhere first. , cause when you pull the knob out, it opens up both hot and cold sides. Its also has ATC (auto temp control) on the knob too, so there is a circuit board under the control panel. So im not even sure where to start.

This is true, I've seen a bunch on CL for cheap. If its an old dog, another used machine would probably be cheaper than the factory part to fix the old one.Originally posted by Jeffescortlx View PostI'm sure you could find a washer on craigs list for next to nothen since people are loosing their houses left and right.1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera
