Small town Wisconsin cop/setup/paypal/stone age/low funding...

ok going through the small town of hayward wisconsin. I got a ticket for doing 40 in a 25..........ok i got busted my bad, i made no stink about it to the cop.

But he then said "just make sure you COME pay us by the date on the back (hand written ticket)"

I asked the cop "Well cant i just pay by credit card over the phone or send in a check?"

the cop replys "No we are not set up for that..but we will be in about a year so we then can take credit cards but we dont checks"

I reply "So my only option is to drive back here and pay this thing in cash"

Cop reply "pretty much yeah"

Now i have allways heard of people not paying the tickets they get in small wisconsin town's, and nothing ever coming of it.

Now im plan on paying the ticket.

But i ask you..a city court house that cant even run a credit card or take a check..how in the hell are they gonna put a warrent out for me :idiot: i picture the police station like something out of the Andy grifith show.

And thgen i ask my self "Can this one stop light barney fife cop, cause problems for me across the border in MN, or would i just slip through the cracks of there seamingly 80's style fine payment system"

It's BS that they can't even accept a check. Seriously. Doesn't sound right. I can see not being able to take a credit card though.

not defending the guy but if you dont pay it, when he turns it into his court administration, a couple things can happen.

1. can automatically be considered a guilty plea
2. you license can be suspended
3. can issue a warrant for your arrest.

I would contact the courthouse in that county and ask them how you can take care of it. maybe you could send a money order. they will know the right way. Minnesota is the check fraud capital of the US. Minnesotans write more checks than any other state and therefore have more problems with that. Not accepting a check is not unusual for something like that.

I have heard of wisconsin making you pay the fine immediately or they will haul you in. That really sucks. Especially for my broke ass, that would be bad news. THAT is normal for that cheesehead state tho.

Call them and see how you can take care of it.

and Minnesota DOES have reciprocity with Wisconsin. They might not be willing to extradite for a simple speeding ticket but if they choose to suspend your DL, it is suspended in MN as well.

I got a ticket when I was 17 (keep that age in mind) in Somerset wisconsin. It was like 300 some dollars. I never paid it. Nothing ever happened.

I've even been booked here in MN when they do a full check nationwide for other warrants. Nothing came up.

They may have issued a juvenile warrant and then quashed it once you turned 19.
