I might be buying a car in Wisconsin tomorrow from a private party and I know the vehicle plates stay with the seller. My ? is, do I have to obtain a temp tag or something or just a bill of sale? Anybody ever done this before?

Just make sure you get a bill of sale . Then you have a few days to get plates . it always worked for me.

I drove a car from ga-mn with no plates and even got pullec over in wi. told him I just bought the car. had a signed title and was good. bought a car in baltimore abd used plates from one of my other cats. was good. 'shrug'
