ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — The Denver Broncos said late Tuesday they have reached an agreement with Jay Cutler and the Minnesota Vikings.
There was no shortage of teams interested in the 25-year-old rocket-armed quarterback whose unhappy offseason began with Mike Shanahan's firing and has haunted new coach Josh McDaniels' budding regime.
Vikings owner Zygi Wilf released a statement saying both he and the Denver Broncos have reached an agreement to trade Cutler to the Minnesota Vikings, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen said he spoke with Cutler's agent, Bus Cook, on Tuesday and came away convinced "that Jay seems satisfied with this deal." In a press conference held late teusday Pat Bowlen commented that "this is probably the best possible scenario for the Broncos".
The deal which trades Vikings RB Chester Taylor and recent QB acquisition Sage Rosenfells as well as this years 1st round draft pick and next years 4th raised little conflict with NFL experts, most everyone agreeing generally it was a good deal all around for both parties.
Cook didn't immediately return messages left by The Associated Press, and McDaniels, through a team spokesman, declined to comment at this time.
