if you have small hands, it would work.

what do you want it for?

Good for self defense or knocking off a liquor store - yes.

Impressing your friends by trying to hit a pop can (or anything for that matter) at 30 yards or more - no.

My limited experience with Ruger products has been posititve. How much did you find that little guy for?

        Where

Excellent carry gun. BE AWARE that there was a recent recall by Ruger on the LCP. Nothing serious but make sure any LCP you consider has had the recall performed. They are TINY, extremely light, and would easily fit in a front pocket. From what I've *herd*... they can be fussy on ammo. So, before carrying it and trusting your life to it, extensively test any ammo you plan on using in it at the range.

Friend of mine carries it as her off-duty gun. Yeah, she got the recall fixed already. Seems nice, but a little small, wouldn't mind a little bigger one. What do I want one for? Like anything else I don't really need, I just want one to get used to guns. Maybe carry someday if necessary when I become Mayor or own a bank...

It doesn't weigh much and will have more of a kick as well as not being as accurate.

There's some more threads on this and comparable guns if you do a search here.

I definitely prefer my Kahr PM9 to the LCP if your looking for a pocket auto to carry. The PM9 is a full power 9mm gun, which will reliably shoot all the +p ammo you can throw at it. It's a fucking tack driver (for a carry gun of any size...) and is surprisingly easy to shoot even with +p ammo. Awesome trigger (as far as DA guns go), it's lightweight, I believe its the thinnest 9mm gun on the market at well under an inch. Not really anything to dislike about it. Maybe the price, they are expensive guns at $650ish.

I would say it is a good carry gun for concealment, especially if you are skinny like me. I don't think it would be a very good first gun for someone who doesn't carry.
