Does anyone know when MPLS area will be getting newer DVRs? I was told the reason why mine sucks so bad is because its just Time Warner's old erea and there has been a major reworking yet? It kind of sucks when I have friends living in Coon Rapids, Andover, Blaine and Fridley with newer boxes! :pist:

I have a Scientific Altanta 8300HDC. I was told that motorolas arent used here and this is the best of the best. The latest. Ive had it for about 2 years so I find it a bit hard to believe.

I had the moto box for 2 years befor i moved to mpls this summer, now I have the SciAt box, I like the menus layout much better on the moto box but I have to say my service as been flawless at the new place and the old one craped out on me all the time and always had issues with stuff, pixleating and such, not sure if that was because of the box or the network in the area. Other than it looking gay and having old school menues what dont you like about it? The moto boxes seemed to freeze on me all the damn time when fast forwarding ect...

Go to SciAtl's website. They pretty much explain their STB's fairly well. There seems to be one or two newer ones out there, but it also appears that each market gets to choose which one(s) they offer.

I would guess it has more to do with the service in the area than the box, we had 3 of the motos in the old place, all froze up like mother f-ers, but my friends never did, now at the new place I have the SciAt boxes and havent had the smallest of issue with them, the bad news is if it is the service you are fucked, we had shitty comcrapstic service for years, its just not worth it to them to change what needs to be changed in some areas, they send out of a guy who does nothing and hope you get sick of the whole song and dang and just end up living with it.
