Go try a track day at a road course sometime and see how well an SVT Focus does against MUCH more expensive cars.

Video seems worthless without knowing each drivers skill level and the modifications to the cars. A good driver can make any car look good on the track. It looks like a short track which usually is better for smaller, lower powered cars (think autocross). Certain cars excel in different environments and this one video isn't driving the point home for me. Sorry.

Find a video of a Focus at BIR on the big track and see how it does. Would it hit 140 down the front straight (one mile long)?

I'm kind of amazed that the SVT Foci are that slow... I've had my Contour SVT (same MTX75 as non-SVT Foci) well into the 140's - easily in fact. Video of a boosted SVT doing 160

I always thought they were close to the SVT Contour... guess not.

My point is that people are criticizing the car for traits it wan't meant to have.

The average SVTF will do 135 mph in stock form, it was built to be a fun track day and daily driver car.

Thats what it is, take one out on a windy road and tell me it's not fun to drive.

I own one and I love it but you'll never hear me say it's fast. it is very fun to drive though.

And yes, driver obviously make a huge difference. The Terminator dusted the Focus down every straight but the little SVT more than made up for that in braking and handling.

I deal with guys every day with Terminators, Lightnings, CSVT's, SVTF's and I respect them all.

I've just never understood the bashing the Focus gets from Mustang owners, it makes no sense.

I think most people are bashing the guy claiming to have ditched his car at 140mph and only have minimal damage, not so much as bashing the car. The story seems to be exaggerated a little too much to be believable, IMO. Had the story been 50mph, this thread would've probably never been started.

Accidents at 140mph rarely end this well.
