To Jeep SRT8 or not to Jeep SRT8

I was thinking of getting one of these, used of course. What are your opinions. There are some used ones with 20k or less miles going for mid $20s?? I was thinking of selling the speed3 for one.

My wrangler 98 started to fall apart around 70k miles, but thats probably because I would keep it in 4x4 mode and drop the clutch at like 4 grand when i use to hahha race it, sadly i beat alot of people back then in it.

Exactly what I was thinking. My cobra will be paid off very soon, and while i love the speed3, I really really love the jeep. Apparently the engine switches to 4 cyclinders during highway driving, to save on gas mileage, which would be very nice

If the choice is speed3 or jeep, get the jeep.

it will still get bad mileage. gas will go back to where it was I am sure. I would think it over, jeep cheerokes get very bad mileage.

On dry pavement no doubt. Yeah, you really really aren't supposed to do that with a Jeep transfer case.

The SRT8 is fast and fun. A guy in the office next to mine has one and loves it to death. My regular Cherokees are fuel economy vehicles compared to that thing though.

I dont drive far to and from work. Fuel is not a huge thing for me right now.

I think these things produce around 420 hp/tq.

So we are probably looking at 160 miles a tank? I am assuming 16 gallon tank at 10mpg. My mileage is paid for by work, which is nice

That's GOT to be city. I can't imagine he's under 15 on the highway.

Yeah I think his commute is mostly back roads. I forget if those things have a computer display for mpg, he was saying something about how if the mpg is in single digits, he's probably got a smile on his face.
