I picked up a new toy earlier this week and I thought I would go there to shoot it... acording to there web site you can only shoot hollow point or lead ball ammo... I went seaching all over this morning and all I can find for my toy is jhp or clt? Im going to call the range in the morning to see if thats ok but I thought I would check hear to see if anyone knows where to get hollow point ammo for a sw40.

I've shot there a few times in the past. I think jhp will be fine.
You could also try the range at Mystic Lake Casino. It's actually in the basement of their health club down the road from the casino. It's a nicer facility than the Burnsville range but it has fewer lanes and is shorter too if I remember correctly.

Pretty sure they don't allow steel rounds because steel rounds rip through everything. Not because they can't recycle them.Originally posted by budderigs View Postthey must recycle the lead... you can keep the brass.
And yes, you can keep your brass...or leave it there. And when left, they sell the spent casings.god damned tinypic.

I must say one thing about the gun I bought... I wish I priced out the rounds first... I think it would have been worth the extra money to get the 9... 40 cal rounds cost a shit ton.rides:

Last time I was there I overheard the owner telling some guy their backstop couldn't handle certain rounds.... something like that. It was many years ago so I don't remember the details.Originally posted by Akromix View PostPretty sure they don't allow steel rounds because steel rounds rip through everything.

Yeah, steel will also tear the tracks and the target "riders" to hell if you're aim is horrible and you manage to hit them.Originally posted by Gipper View PostLast time I was there I overheard the owner telling some guy their backstop couldn't handle certain rounds.... something like that. Walmart. Winchester 100 round boxes. I can't remember the price but it was the cheapest we could find last time I bought ammo.

Kinda like when you buddy assembles a Baby Eagle 40 wrong and it goes full auto with no warning and empties the clip in the blink of an eye. Yeah, target riders can take a beating!
