anyone shoot at the burnsville p range.

I picked up a new toy earlier this week and I thought I would go there to shoot it... acording to there web site you can only shoot hollow point or lead ball ammo... I went seaching all over this morning and all I can find for my toy is jhp or clt? Im going to call the range in the morning to see if thats ok but I thought I would check hear to see if anyone knows where to get hollow point ammo for a sw40.

I shot there years ago, and was just using cheap 9mm box of 500 rounds from walmart, never said anything to me. Again this was prolly a good 5 years ago tho.

I've shot there a few times in the past. I think jhp will be fine.

You could also try the range at Mystic Lake Casino. It's actually in the basement of their health club down the road from the casino. It's a nicer facility than the Burnsville range but it has fewer lanes and is shorter too if I remember correctly.

FYI, the Dakota Range (Mystic Lake) has closed a few months ago. Never had any problems shooting jacketed bullets at BP. I think they just don't want steel.

Only thing I've ever heard was no alum/steel cased rounds. They recycle the brass.

Pretty sure they don't allow steel rounds because steel rounds rip through everything. Not because they can't recycle them.

And yes, you can keep your brass...or leave it there. And when left, they sell the spent casings.

I must say one thing about the gun I bought... I wish I priced out the rounds first... I think it would have been worth the extra money to get the 9... 40 cal rounds cost a shit ton.

also...why the hell would you shoot jhp at the range unless you're just testing how the rounds cycle and function? That's real spendy target shooting.

Last time I was there I overheard the owner telling some guy their backstop couldn't handle certain rounds.... something like that. It was many years ago so I don't remember the details.

Yeah, steel will also tear the tracks and the target "riders" to hell if you're aim is horrible and you manage to hit them.

Walmart. Winchester 100 round boxes. I can't remember the price but it was the cheapest we could find last time I bought ammo.

Kinda like when you buddy assembles a Baby Eagle 40 wrong and it goes full auto with no warning and empties the clip in the blink of an eye. Yeah, target riders can take a beating!

I cant find anything else for sale local... I can order rounds off of one of the many websites and have them shiped but I wanted to shoot the gun this weekend. do you know of anywhere that I can get 40 cal s&w rounds for less then 70cents each. remember they have to be hp or lead ball...
