If they would have done more and started a war or cold war, you'd be all over it like stickers on a honda.

If all they did was send aid via nato ships and mount a few warships in the black sea, they didn't do enough.

the whole point I was trying to make in the other thread... Russia pretty much still rules all of Europe. Mostly through the oil pipeline. Nobody in their right mind would go out of their way to piss off russia, economically or militarily (?is that a word? heh); not anyone, from a nuclear power like France (who's military ability is indeed in question) to a small powerless country like Georgia...

That "shithole situation" is the least of my concerns at this point. We couldn't fight another cold war if we wanted to right now. We have two other "situations" to clean up before we can even attempt to make any REAL plays in Europe and Russia knows it.

Look. The point is that these territories are within the internationally-recognized, sovereign borders of Georgia. Regardless of what Russia declares, it is not their decision to make. The Georgians need to work this out with their republics/districts. If Russia were merely acting as a neutralizing force (peace keeping) to quell the violence, it would be one thing. They did not act in this manner and have sought to systematically destroy assets, infrastructure and undermine Georgia's ability to conduct it's own affairs. They have attempted to appropriate land and resources, both property of Georgia, for the benefit of Russia. This is wrong.

We should have troops on the ground to ensure that Russia is at the very least staying within the confines of South Ossettia, and truly "keeping peace" rather than undermining the government of Georgia.
