    standup jetskis...

i saw a thread a week or so ago about how awesome these are...ive seem em on craigslist for under a grand, yeah they are old and prolly very underpowered compared to what they put out today, but im sure they can still be fun for a couple hours here and threr thruout a summer...

who on here actually owns ones? ive never owned a jetski so when i go to look at one, is there anything i should look for specificly? or any other info on them, any make i should stay away from, or one i should try to get?

id like to be able to pull off some sweet moves like this kid...

I've watched guys try to ride them that never have before, it's hilarious, and if I remember right you're a little bigger, so we're gonna need some vids of you trying to ride after you get one

I've always wanted one. Some day I'll get one.

But I can't help you at all lol, besides saying underpowered isn't a problem since I don't think you need to do 80 mph standing on one of those damn things. In fact, the big sit down ones are way overpowered I think.

My roommate has one and it actually parting it right out now, It's an '85 Kawasaki 550. It was fun as hell to ride and not hard at all. It only went about 55 MPH because of the pump he had on it, but the fucker pulled hard!. It was fully modded out and around 90hp, in a ~300lb rig. It was a blast.

The Kawi 800 is by far the easiest to ride of the 5 I have tried.

Get a newer one with power, easier to plane.
                  Ive ridden early 90s Kawi 300 and 650 and a yamaha 700 and a new Kawi 800.

The older underpowered ones are quite difficult to get goin. The newer yamaha and kawi (2-3 years old) were much easier.
800 super easy to get up on, very fast at over 50mph and handles very decent.

I just rode the 800 and a Honda sitdown 1200 last week. The sitdown was fun, but I got bored after about a half hr. Doughnuts were fun, the lcd speedo said 53mph, but sitting down doin the same thing kinda got boring.

The standups sure are a workout!

Brothers got a Kawasaki 440, hasn't been ridden in 5-6 years, excellent condition. Could use more power....
