    Helmets....

I was wondering what you guys have for a helmet? I've noticed that now to run at NHRA approved tracks you need a Snell approved hemet. I've always just use a DOT motorcycle helmet, but wouldn't mind updateding.

So what do you guys own? Is it confortable? How much was it? Open faced or closed?

    Thanks Justin

I run this helmet at BIR and Rock Falls and haven't had any problems yet. Snell-17

I went to some local motorcycle shops and tried on some helmets to see what size my head was. Then found same brand/s on net and got a snell 2005 for ~100 shipped. Not the most comfortable helmet, but I only wear it at the track anyhow.

LOL. but, I am sure your under a 13.99.

I borrowed a dirtbike helmet for running at Grove Creek.. They let it fly no problem. But, at BIR they check for the Snell 2005 shit.

Yea I'm under 13.99 , a snowmobile helmet (at least mine) passes all the same requirements as a Motorcycle helmet (I'm not sure if that includes the snell 2005 then). A dirtbike helmet does not provide the same amount of protection.

Wait, it did have the snell sticker on it so I assume that includes the snell 2005.

snell and snell 2005 are different... I got my last helmet at fleetfarm for 100bucks it is snell 2005.it was fairly comfortable, and fit snugly with out bouncing around... but then it got stolen out of my garage... I will have to get a new one soon.

A helmet for motorcycles or snowmobiles would have the same "M" rating & for auto racing it would be "SA" rating. They are different and for road course we do strongly recommend the SA rating. The primary difference is that the SA is rated for multiple impacts and for fire protection.

thanks guys for the input, I've been looking at different helmets online... they give measurements for different sizes and how to measure your head, but I am I still would like to try one of before I spend $100+ on one. Do you think that if I just went off measurements that it would be confortable?
