Just got done talking with a car salesman I have been dealing with for years about trading my truck in...

Was informed that the "typical" truck trade-in value on another used vehicle right now is right around 50 to 65% of the KBB trade-in value listed.

In fact, they aren't even taking diesels on trade AT ALL.
The diesel owners are given the option of running the truck through auction and seeing if they can get their price for it.

So... be prepared if you are headed in for a trade.

Dealers down south have not been taking trucks/suvs in on trade for a few months now, and goodluck getting anywhere near whats owed on a truck at auction.

Wow. Sounds like I dumped my 03 Diesel Super Duty just in time, that was last November.

I just turned in my leased 06 F-150. I was supposed to buy it back from the dealer for around 15000. Ford Motor Co, then told the dealer that they think its worth 21000. The dealer is still working on it for me, but they think Ford is nuts as well as I do for asking that much for that pickup.

Luckily I love the truck and have something else to daily-drive. Had I known the truck would have turned into a garage queen, I would have bought a new Mustang or 03-04 Cobra instead, but the truck stays because I refuse to take that kind of a hit.

Same situation here (cept the snake was already in the garage at the time).

I could prolly drive the wifes Caliber to and from work, and leave the truck for her to use around home. We'll see. She puts on more miles around home than I do to and from work though
