Actually, I was not the one that posted that. But I know exactly what he is talking about and agree 100%. And like Southern said, it is very hard to explain to those that haven't experienced it. I guess you will have to just take our comments for what they are, but notice that all of the combat Vets on here seem to be singing the same tune on this topic.Originally posted by LESBut according to Matt the "CARE PACKAGES" were nice , but soon forgotten when the TV was turned on and the media was negative twords the war.
I may just not be understanding I guess.
So I am to take time out of my busy schedule to sit down and argue with some guy from the internet that has a track record for saying things that really cross the line and insult me greatly? And he shows little signs of listening to what I have to say? What the hell would be the point for either of us?Originally posted by LES View PostWell Scotty offered up a sit down conversation and Matt declined, saying he had better things to do with his time. Too me his time would be better spent trying to educate us then sitting in a VFW talking to Vets who already know everything we want to.:
Like I said, I have tried to inform where I can and it just never turns into anything but a giant pissing contest with insults a-flyin everywhere. It is just too much of a hot topic for some people - me included. Opinions are pretty deeply rooted and most people aren't going to change them.
I will still put some of my $.02 in on military and war topics, but it isn't going to be because I actually hope to change anybody or care what they think anymore. It will be because I feel like saying something. And sometimes, I won't feel like saying something. That's the way it has to be.If you are able, save them a place inside of you and save one backward glance when you are leaving for the places they can no longer go. Be not ashamed to say you loved them, though you may or may not have always. Take what they have left and what they have taught you with their dying and keep it with your own. And in that time when men decide and feel safe to call the war insane, take one moment to embrace those gentle heroes you left behind.

Matt, the comment was directed towards YOU, not your "brothers and sisters". Please don't make it into something it was not.Originally posted by Matt87GTA View PostSome things just can't be apologized for fully. Maknig fun of PTSD and soldiers that might suffer from it is one of those things. I'm not still pissed off about you saying that to me so much, I do accept your apology. But I am still pissed off at you for how that comment might affect other soldiers that might be suffering from PTSD. But because of comments like yours, it's all made it into a big goddamn joke so they probably will continue to feel like seeking help at the VA for PTSD is a sign of weakness... and they're whack jobs for needing it... And maybe one of my brothers or sisters in arms will go on suffering and living a shitty life because of a stupid stigma furthered by your comment. I'm sorry, but it isn't something so easily let go by me, even with your apology.
As for the topic of PTSD, I would bet a bunch of money I know more about it than you
I never said I read ALL of them. Again, you have a nack for twisting things around and making more out of it than what it was.You are quite new to all of this debating on this topic and you can't possibly have read all I have said over the years on this board. So spare me the elitist analysis on my conduct and messege.
Since you cannot seem to control your temper maybe you should just quit posting. You may have endeared yourself to some around here, but I would be willing to bet some of the newer people that come on here and read your diatribes think you are a pompas asshole.I have been back and forth and up and down with the likes of Max Power and SFC so many fucking times on these topics that it all gets a bit old after a while, and you are right. I've been pretty quick to get nasty lately. It wasn't always this way. I used to care about how my message came across, now I just feel like stating at times and people can take it or leave it. I clearly explained why that is. I guess I shouldn't expect you to understand how I could feel as I do. But read what yagllaruoy just posted up and it will give you some insight.
You come on here talking all things military, touting your military accomplishments, and talking about the military. So, in a way you are representing the military. As for you, since you refuse to meet face to face the only way I have to judge you is by what and how you post. You make judgements about others on this forum all the time including me. What's the matter? You can't have your cake and eat some too?? You come off as being a self-centered, egotistical, narcissistic, know-it-all. I call a spade a spade.Do not judge me or the military on how professional we are based on how I address you on this message board. You don't know a damn thing about the professionalism of the military or my conduct and demeanor as a soldier.
PM me a few names and numbers. If you want to know what kind of soldier I was and how I conducted myself in uniform, I can put you in touch with some of my soldiers and other soldiers I served with and you can ask them.
I agree that my conduct towards you in this thread has not always been stellar. But, I dare say it has been a bit better than yours. If we include the past, it trumps you handidly. You type now that I seem to have some valid points yet have to expand on why you think that is the case. You say now that you might even be able to learn some things from me about the war... Throughout this thread, you have done nothing but fire off easily as many insulting comments as I have and done whatever you can to cut down my service as meaningless with respect to my perspective on the topic. And yet here you are telling ME I come across too confrontational and brash? I'm sorry, but you need to take a long look in the mirror. I didn't just come on here and lay into you or Max Power or SFC for no reason about nothing in particular. So give it a rest already. I was compelled to comment more when you started talking about how much respect you didn't have for me but did have for other Veterans because they didn't voice their opinions...
As for looking in the mirror, take your own advice. If you can see past your inflated ego you might be able to see what you are really about.
Again, you twist things around. I said nothing about arguing. Go back and read it again. I made the offer that I still stand by. You know the saying, "Put up or shut up!" I guess you decided to shut up .Now as far as meeting in person goes, honestly I have far better things to do with my time than sit and argue about this with you. It doesn't matter anyways, so what's the point.
You really are a piece of work.

22 pages long. LOL, I figured it would go 12. Why don't you guys get on the phone and talk. I'm pretty sure that would solve all your problems. The internet can twist what we all think about each other. You can't really know some one until you talk to them face to face. I'm pretty sure, you all just wan't to be listened to. Matt, I'm glad there are people like you that are willing to serve our country, So we can live the life we have. Scotty, if you haven't walked in Matt's shoes, Leave the guy alone. This is why I hate the internet. No one wins and every one is pissed.
