Letting your car run for a half hour might get your coolant temperature up to normal temps (kinda), but your oil, cats, ect is not going to get up to full temperature without putting a load on the engine. If you consider starting a virtually dry engine as "not hurting" an engine, then you are right.

I wana hear your logic as to what good you are doing for the engine that is outweighing the harm you doing when it's started every two weeks or so?

well cosidering that we dont really store our cars in minnesota, long term parking is more like it.but i think when the car is only parked for 5 months things arent the same as opposed to like a year or longer.

I use a piece of window screen on the exhaust, mice can't eat it. I also use poly (4 mil) on the floor, keeps moisture away, and a little piece of thick carpet under each tire, which prevented flat spots. I also put some moth balls in a loosely sealed plastic bag in a bowl, which is sposed to keep varmits out of the interior. The smell went away with no problem in Spring.

              2003Mach1's steps to winter storage:

Step 1: Park car in garage or wherever there's room.

Step 2: Take car out and thrash it on nice days (sans insurance) so that you don't forget why you're making those HUGE payments every month.

Hey sounds like good advice, now that I have a 2004 it would be a shame to not drive it a few times next winter. I sold my 1977 Newport so now I will "store" the Mustang and look for a winter beater. I should have kept the 1998 Escort I traded in, it was paid for and would have made a nice winter car.
