well, was kinda getting tired of driving around a stock sounding mustang, so decided to get a pair of mufflers and swap em in place of the factory. i didnt want to get all new tubing and change sizes as i just wanted a quick project. called around and found some magnaflows in 2 1/4"(everyone i called had 2.5"flowmasters, or wrong inlets/outlets) and decided just to see how they compare to the well known flowmaster sound. heres my review..
at idle- little bit deeper tone, and just a little louder. not too big of a difference
at driving- just a tad more interior noise than stock, but can notice driving under bridges and tunnels that its got a healthier sound to it. has a nice clean mellow growl..
hammer down- still really smooth and nicely aggressive without any rasping sound. still really good on the interior noise level too.
FINAL THOUGHTS-- its a nice upgrade over stock for 140/pair, and a quick weld in. the magnaflows do sound much better overall than factory mufflers, but i wish they were a little louder at idle though...
they definitely arent a flowmaster sound, but till i get headers and do the rest of the system theyll keep me pretty happy in the meantime without any worry of pissing of neighbors at 3 am, or getting mean looks from the local cops. if you think flowmasters are too loud (wimp!) and are just looking for a mild upgrade you might be interested in trying these...
