Yup. WAYYY too close for me, especially when the C6 is 10x the car for the money. BUT I can't do two doors, so no vette for me.

Holy crap 40k is way too much for that car. I would agree that 35-36k should be tops.

Yes on the gas guzzler tax. Plus from what I hear, that "3-4k more" is more like "6-8k more" than the base GT. I guess only time will tell.
