Here we go again

Ok, so its that time of year again, another freakin religious holiday. I am not quite sure why but every single religious holiday something strange happends in my family. My mother lets me know at the last minute that everybody is getting together tonight so that all the jesus loving free loaders in my family dont have to cook. So heres the problem, after years of this crap I finally told her that I am an atheist and I dont care about religious holidays. So for the last few years she tells me the family is doing something and then gets mad when I already have plan for tonight, everytime, without fail. Its like she refuses to acknowledge it or she is just old and senile.

Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like you're being an asshole to me. Atheist or not doesn't mean you have to duck out on your mom trying to get the family together. You know the few times a year it's going to happen. Lord knows what hardship it must be for you to show up and eat food someone else made for you.
