Clean and adjust big screen/projection tv's?

Any truth in it that it should be done once a year? I have a tv thats like 8 years old, has the orig bulb in it, takes a big for it to warm up. It looks slightly fuzzy, I was told I should have it cleaned and adjusted, but, as old as it is, I could just let it go and die, then just get a decent 42-52" tv or maybe a projector

I think I got he brightness turned up all the way as it was getting dark, I noticed its starting to get dark again....

Yeah older ones needed adjustments to align the guns and the convergence (sp) I know whenever you moved them you always wanted to check the alignment.
