Anyone repair PS3's?

Mine has all ready crapped out in less than a year. After playing less than 50 hours in one year its done, screen will not even come up. What are my options?

I finally found my receipt, I bought it last January, so any implied warranty is over. I will still call Sony because I have nothing to lose.

they should replace it. sounds like a bug or was dropped in shipment. did you fall on in wrestling with the wife at one point?

I am usually busy but I can fix them, let me see if my friend has any thing on his plate and what turn around he can do, if not I can usually fix them in under an hour.

Called Sony, they said I was out of warranty which I knew. 149 for an exchange, which all though I am not happy about is better than buying another new one.

Explain the problem, it could be something as simple as a blown surface mount fuse that cost $ .02

All the lights come on, disc will go in, but no image on screen...nothing. There is a new ratcheting noice when it accepts the disc also, ive never heard it before when it was working ok.

Prolly the DVD Drive. Sounds like it isnt Spinning up correctly.
It doesnt Spin up you get no image...

I've never used a PS3, but I assume they have something analogous to the Xbox dashboard, or at least some sort of splash screen. If he's getting NOTHING on screen then I doubt it's the DVD drive (or at least not ONLY the DVD drive.)
