Ghosts kills don't net experience points, they only drop gold. If you use a spell of binding transformation I've noticed you can get some cool unique item drops (that's how I got my +20 gold axe of illumination!!!!) but other than that ghost harvesting is pretty worthless. Everyone knows that.
