carpentry question

I have an 9x8 garage opening and the inside width of the jamb is 8' 9 1/2" wide I want to open it up to at least 9 inches. I want to continue puting my boat in the single space and the 2 stangs in the double if possible but my old trailer was 8' wide and the new one is 8' 8" and that is way to close for me to back into. I wouldnt mind puting some money into it to open it up suitable to put the boat in but what would it take to do this. I have to look at it some more but I really am not a carpenter and wouldnt know what to do with it.

That shouldn't be too bad. I'd probably just goto a 10' door. New door, header, jamb and whatever you have for siding....

bolt some steel tracks to the driveway running up to the garage. That way you're either in the tracks or you aren't, so you always know you're spot on

This is what needs to be done. I concur.

I think a new door would be you biggest expence. Also trying to match the door and any trim you need. And is there room between the doors to add the width.

how wide is it from block to block???? You have to run 2X8s for code.

If there are a few blocks between doors you could knock one out
