I went to the dyno today at John Haley Motorsports to get ready for the Hot Rod Pump-Gas Drags. the only change I made from last year was replacing my Vortech YS-Trim supercharger with a YSi-Trim. The only difference is the YSi can flow another few hundred CFM and can make up to 1,200 HP. I also reduced the drive ratio from last year from a maximum speed of 62,000 RPM to 60,000 RPM. My whole goal was to drop some torque to help me launch at the track and also drop some horsepower due to the reduced timing and boost. I made a new program for my TwEECer that dropped around 4 degrees of timing (total) to make up for the difference between the 100 octane and the 93 required for the Pump Gas Drags.
Last year my best dyno was 723.1 RWHP and 719.6 tq.
This year (on 93 octane) I ran 722.7 RWHP and 647.8 tq!
I was suprised - that means the YSi is doing EXACTLY what I wanted and more. After the Pump Gas Drags I will run a new pulley to increase impeller speed to 65,000 RPM and hopefully bring the torque back up to 700+ and the horsepower to the 775-800 range.
For those that are interested 722.7 RWHP is equal to 903 flywheel horsepower at 20% drivetrain loss
Needless to say I am happy!
