I work for the Minneapolis water department.

We only have about 20 houses on well water here, I've only did this twice and its hit or miss.

Buy one of and install a new one. Many modles to fit your sizes. Depends on where your pump is if its far under ground like 20-30 feet get out the wood boards and tunnel your way down to it. If you can fish it up.. Pull it up just be carefull not to wreck it on the way up.
