State goes after more protected rights...

Here's a NEW thread, from a CURRENT topic - the erosion of personal rights.

Your source for Minnesota news today. Read articles, view photos or watch videos about news in Minneapolis, St. Paul, Duluth, St. Cloud, Rochester, and beyond.

The OUTCOME that you desired was achieved at the expense of the system. Now the system can not hope to control the taking of additional rights. The slippery slope has begun its slide.

Make sure you protect your rights to choose what to do with your car, what to feed your children, how to decorate the interior of your home...

    Laugh now, you'll cry later...

Yeah? So, what you're telling me is that the OWNER of that building has stated it is to be non-smoking? That is EXACTLY the right of the owner and may be a selling point for tenants too. No problem with this. I have a major problem with a 3rd party (government in this case) declaring that I, as owner, do not have that choice.

Similar outcome, vastly different process to get to that outcome.

Can the owner allow people to smoke weed, because its its a private establishment? It doesnt have to do with peoples choices, it has to do with public health. Cigarettes WILL be illegal... its coming, it needs to be....

The government screwed up... they ALLOWED cigarettes to be legal in the first place... and they are fixing it... slowly..

          So who cares..

Agree 1000%. It is a PERSONAL right if a landlord decides to not allow smoking. Should not be a gov't decision. People need to wake up (and quickly) and realize that even if you agree with a gov't decision....it shouldn't be theirs to make.
Witty crap that impresses you as you read it.

I like the smoking bans. I don't smoke so why should I have to smell it when the increasing minority does it?

This isn't about weed. This is about cigarettes, a LEGAL product. No cigarettes will never be illegal because of the tax revenue they create. It does have to do with people's choices, smoking is a choice. A vast majority of apartments are already non smoking and that's fine, but the government has no place to require that a LEGAL activity be barred. It should be up to the property owner. That's what used to be nice about owning property, you could do with it what you want.

Because it is legal for them to do it and therefore their right.

Newsflash...most people don't like sports cars, so the government should ban anythign with over 150hp.

If an establishment was non smoking that's fine, but it should be up to the property owner to decide what kind of LEGAL activities happen on their property.

Yeah, those of us who consider ourselves auto enthusiasts are in the minority, so why should the rest of the world have to suffer with us driving our gas guzzling modified vehicles on their roads.

I'm sure someone will shout apples to oranges but these special interest groups are dangerous, if we give them an inch they WILL take a mile.

Yeah, but if someone comes a little too close to me with a fast car, I'll die right away instead of getting cancer from something someone else did.

The lead fumes at Porky's and the race spots are slowly killing you also.
