Anybody know if a no proof of insurance ticket requires court?

In Dakota County if it makes any difference. Cop says court is required which I would think is a waste of the court system.

We were hit behind in my van in Prior Lake one night by some guy. We didn't have our insurance card on hand and it required that we fax proof of it to the cop. Once we did that, we were fine.

I would think it would be the same on a "ticket"

just got one leaving the winking pink not long ago. didnt have to go to court but did have to sit for 3 f'ing hrs at courthouse to show the "deputy douche" recorder. and was done.. dakota county though????

What he said. I have gotten plenty of these in Dakota county. All I did was went to the courthouse and showed them proof.


As far as mandatory court, sounds like the officer assumed you really don't have insurance.

i've gotten tickets in hennepin and ramsey for no proof and both times instead of mailing in payment i mailed in a copy of my proof of insurance and it was taken care of.
