    finally another GHz...

so i finally took the plunge and went back to Intel. got a Core2 duo E6850 cpu, a Tuniq Tower 120 heatsink, a gigabyte mobo and 2gb ocz ram... My last Intel CPU was a Pentium 233MMX (that overclocked to 266mhz and cooked within half hour).

Since then, I've owned a zillion AMD processors, the last 5-6 all being 2Ghz...

I'm quite honestly surprised that thing booted up after fiddling around and tryint to connect everything after putting on that monster of a heatsink... putting the heatsink side by side with the intel HSF was pretty funny...

I love my Tunic Tower 120. Thing weighs like 4 or 5 pounds itself though. It keeps the CPU nice and cool though. What memory did you go with?

If you start overclocking you are going to want to get some better cooling for your North and South Bridge chips also. I went with the Extreme Spirit II from Thermaltake and they stay nice and cool with those on there. Each one has a 40mm fan on it and the thing is solid copper.

Hey VM, how high does the Tunig stand off of the motherboard? Also, what are your idle vs load temps? Would another video card fit in there with that TT SB cooler?

I have an older antec case that has a bar that runs from the front to the back of the case, clearance is very tight, with the zalman cooler I have, it takes some time to snake it in and around that bar.

Here are some before pics of my setup, I need to order longer cables, cables for the server, a new heatsink for the server, then those 2 drives on the bottom are gone, and no more cable mess.

That zalman cooler is about the size of a softball...

I also got my case powder coated, and the plastics painted, after pics when its done.
        No sig for you.

That case looks weird with the power supply on the bottom.

Here are the dimensions of the T-120 Tower.

                131mm x 108mm x 153mm 5.25" x 4.25" x 6.25"

It takes up a decent amount of room, but cool very nicely.

Ambient temp is 31 Degrees Celsius
Load Temp is 42 Degrees Celsius

I have this thing overclocked to almost 4.0Ghz

The North and South Bridge coolers stay nice and cool also. I do not have temps on those, but I have felt them and the North Bridge gets a tiny bit warm and that is all.

I also have (2) 120mm Intake fans, 120mm exhaust in the back, 200mm exhaust out the top, 120mm exhaust out the PSU.

Then the Tuniq Tower has a 120mm in the middle of it and the 40mm fans on the chipset coolers. Also have the nice big heatsink and fan on the VC.

This case if flowing so much air it is crazy.

How about SLI with that south bridge cooler?

I think that tunig would be too big for my case with the bar in it....but with my 805d@ 3.6ghz and the voltage bumped, it does run sorta hot, I get under load temps in the range of 48-52c according to asus probe.

I was at the egg looking at fans this morning and came across this.

Wish I could get it to fit in my case lol.... don't want a full tower case, trying to keep it mid size.

I could put a second 8800 Ultra in there if I wanted to. It clears by about 1/4 - 1/2 of an inch.
