I've only been to dakota county once. In the back of a squad car.

I read the rules. nothing too hard. If you got a running car drop the original tank. put in a 5 gallon tank in the back seat and must use the original mechanical fuel pump on the motor.

Weld drivers door. tear out dash. weld bar across dash and a cage around the driver.

If you already have a running car there would need to be a couple hundred in material to get the tank and cage going to their specs unless you have acces to tubing and a bender.

Get rid of column shifter relocate to floor, chain motor in.
I would not tear whole dash out dummy gauges will let you know if your car is still running after you get railed by an open header mopar and cant remember what your name is, put battery in passenger seat and make th connections easy to get to because you never know if they will come undone.

Also what kind of car is it

80's GM metric cars seem really "soft" for a demo derby but that doesn't matter if it's your first derby.... you'll still have fun!!

They usually use one of those plastic 5 gallon boat tanks in place of the stock tank.

I've been to many of the Dakota County demo derbys in the past and have helped on several cars. Make sure to bring a big sledge hammer with you and don't take off the radiator cap when the car comes in from it's first derby. I've seen guys with skin hanging from their arms after being burned because they took the cap off to early. I realize it's common sense but when you're in a hurry sometimes you forget the little things and turn a fun time into a nightmare.

              Have fun and be safe!!

Stanger: You'd spend better advertising dollars getting that on the drivers door since technically you're not really supposed to hit the cars there

Def not! must use boat tank!! And a metal one (plastic will crack on hard impact) and gas id flamable not cool! Start checking out garage sales!

GM metric cars are a little soft but the wagons do ok, there are not to many solid cars left (old mopars) so the 80s gms will still hold up decent
