I'm looking at buying a bike soon and want to know what people think about these bikes. I like all of buells line up and am interested in both the buell and suzuki sv650. If you have rode any of these bikes please let me know what you thought.

I have never ridden the buell but I have ridden a sv650 and it was a very fun bike and farly easy to ride, no matter what kind of riding style you prefer. felt kind of twitchy at first but it was easy to handle as soon as I was used to it.rides:

Yeah, I agree at the twitchy part. Maybe because the tires are not that wide.Originally posted by budderigs View PostI have never ridden the buell but I have ridden a sv650 and it was a very fun bike and farly easy to ride, no matter what kind of riding style you prefer. felt kind of twitchy at first but it was easy to handle as soon as I was used to it.

I test rode a XB12s and was really un-impressed. It didn't feel very powerfull and the low revlimiter ended the part too soon in the first few gears. At the time I had a TL1000, and it would have blown the buell away. When its rated arond 100hp I expected alot more. I did really like the look of the Buell and the riding position.
I have never been on a SV650, but you hear nothing but good about them.

Thanks for the help. I think I'll be getting the sv650. I had to think about the buell, because I grew up in a big harley family. The buell has more torque and hp, but it also weighs more and red line is I think 7500 compared to 11000 on the sv. They both have nice flat torque curves, and thats what I want.

wierd. same two bikes i'm looking at. was already leaning towards the sv, but its always good to hear outside opinions.
anyone know how the older SVs compare to the newer ones(03+)? speed isnt really an issue, considering it will be my first bike. just wondering about reliability etc. I thought i heard the earlier ones are carb'd which is kinda scary, never toutched a carb on anything before.

the one I road was carbed. I know its owner just put alittle stabil in the tank every year and he never had a problem with the carbs.
I have never had a problem with carburators on any bike I have had in the past either you just have to take care of them, and tune them once and a while.rides:
