V28 Milwaukee all the way, but really when you get into that range they are all very nice drills, but the V28 setup is the shit, they rock, 10 more volts can be key plus the Li-ion...

And I can say this, here at work we had to do research for Hilti so our engineers purchased many drills just to tear apart and inspect, the Milwaukee was pretty much bullet proof, they were not all that impressed with the Dewalts, seems they are starting to bank off their name a little more then some of the other brands, quality seems to be falling off, at least according to them.

EDIT: Hilti should be in that list

i haven't ever seen anybody with hitachi stuff or know anything about them. i'd stay away from them just for that reason. makita and milwaukee are great brands, and dewalt is very proven also.
my drill is just a craftsman 18v hammer that i got for xmas 6 years ago. it gets a ton of use and abuse at work and still works like new. one of the batteries is weak but i guess you'll have that, plus the one that isn't on the drill sits on the charger 24/7 and i don't know if that's good for them, they are usually pretty hot the whole time.

if you could get a deal like dan n. posted with lifetime batteries, that would sway me alot because the batteries usually cost more than to just buy all new drill and batteries.

We own Dewalt milwaukee and makita and all of them are really good. Go with whichever is cheapest.

I've had batteries plus rebuild all my battery packs after they've gone bad with longer amp/hr batteries than factory. They are better than new and for around $30.

Good to know. I will not buy a drill that is not Lithium ion, i finally decided that. The weight savings is huge and the charge times are great.

I wish the milwauke was a little smaller and I wish the Dewalt had a lithium ion batt. Looks like my choice will probably be makita. Light, great batt, compact.

Look what cell phones have done when they went to Li.

              Next is Zinc-air technology.

Dewally because they are the easiest to find battery's for. Plus I have had a 14.4V for 5+ years and have never had a problem with it. Its been dropped frmo a roof and rained on ect... Its well used.

                      It is a depth gauge.

Wait, I voted wrong, I voted for corded. 1 vote more for dewalt. But I'd go corded long before cordless.

Depth stop. About $2-250 for the lithium ones.

I wish the Milwaukee was smaller, I wish the DeWalt was lithium.

The Makita is about the size and weight of my 14.4v DeWalt.

I got a smoking deal on it as Home Depot had it marked down to $180 from $350ish. It also came with a lifetime warranty on everything, even the batteries. I also got the 24v Ridgid reciprocating saw off eBay for $50 and it's great too. The drill hasn't let me down a single time when it comes to power or battery drain time.
I will second the rigid. I have a 18 volt and am on the second one. One of my employee's were boring 1" holes for wiring through oak framing in my house.

Smoked the drill. Looked like there was a fire in the house there was so much smoke.

Put it outside, continued to smoke for an hour

2 hours later I put a fresh battery on it and used it for 4 more hours. They are tough as shit.

Took it in and got a new one no questions asked (although I didn't need a new one)
