So a few months ago one of my co-workers offers me his tbird as long as I come pick it up (right before that first big snow storm we had), I call my insurance guy and ask him to insure the car for that day so I can drive it home, he tells me that since I'm covered I have up to 30 days to move the car before I have to have it on my policy. I go pick up the car and drive it home, apon my drive home I get pulled over for driving too fast for the conditions, the officer askes me "why are you driving like such an idiot, and do you have any idea how fast you were going?" I said no, how fast was I going he said he clocked me at 48 (speed limit 55) I said politely, isnt that kind of an opinion?, so he askes for licence and proof of insurance, I hand him both but explain that I JUST picked the car up so I dont have a card for it yet. The officer then writes me a ticket for no proof but says I can have it dropped if I come in and show proof. I go to court and show that I was indeed insured but didn't have a card yet because I just got the car, I also explained what my insurance told me. That wasn't good enough for the court and they said they wouldn't drop it unless I had proof for that car. I call my insurance agent, he types up an Allstate letterhead stating I was insured and an insurance card and sends it to me, two weeks later I go back to court and the prosocuter drops the ticket but says I'll have to pay the court fee, at this point I don't care I just want to be done with this. I go to pay the court fee..... $25 minnesota state fee, $72 surrcharge, $3 law library charge.
$100 for not actually getting a ticket.
$100 for not actually getting a ticket.

And neither was a typed and signed letter from my insurance agent.
It took 2 weeks for me to get that back, but I demanded they pay me interest for that, and they did!
