    Speeding Ticket

Well, it finally happened. 6 month from 25 and I got nailed for speeding. A couple of questions ...
There is a court date set and I plan on contesting the ticket, not because I was not speeding, but on the hopes that the trooper does not show up.
What can I expect as far as courtroom procedure in a situation like this?
Id imagine that if he is not there, no ticket and life is good. However, if he does show up, how do things play out?

Good luck, I hope it's worth loosing a days wages on top of the fine.
Most likely he'll be there. I'm sure he has other cases that day besides just your speeding ticket, so he probably needs to be there anyways.

          What was the ticket for?

I've heard that if its not some outragous speed they will generally lower if if you go to court, espicaly if you have a good prior record.

But I wouldn't know I've never had a speeding ticket

Ok... The cop doese NOT show up. You go to your date on the ticket to Tell the judge what you would like to do...

You have a meeting with these one people first, i forgot what they are called, and they will give you the best "legal" advice...

My last case was 64 in a 50 and no seat belt... They dropped the seat belt and lowered my ticket by 25 bucks.... The was the agreement I worked out, now if i said No, i want to fight this ticket, THEN they would set up a date with the officer being there... But if you were speeding, do not try to fight it, go in and see if they can drop it a little, and if you were just Speeding and no second offense, just pay the damn ticket....

They might drop it 20 or maybe nothing, and you gotta sit there all fuckin day and wait, you have to pay for parking in anoka, i think hennepin is free, plus all the people there treat everone like they are criminals that rape babies.

But, if this is your First ticket, its worth a shot... They might drop the first offense, if its your second forget about it.

Yeah, its a first offense. Its acutally in Eau Claire, so none of that parking and what not crap.
Im not really hoping for the whole thing to be dropped, but to be reduced. I figure my date and time is for 200pm on a Wednesday. Just show up and hope for the best.
It happened last night at 1000pm. No other cars on the road. I was just a bit too anxious to get home, I guess. I was nabbed doing 70 in a 55. No other citations.
Im mostly worried about my insurance: State Farm.
              Edit: Ticket is for $160.00.

just make a guilty plea but take the option of going on probation for a period of time. If you can last the 6months of probation the ticket won't reach your record and your insurance won't find out about it. I've gotten 3 speeding tickets and I have a "clean" record because I lasted the probation periods.

with the guilty plea and probation you'll pay like $185 or something. Just know that the probation option requires a larger paid sum while in court

What county was it in? You'll probally wanna ask to talk to the prosecutor and Go for a continue for dismissal and they'll usually drop the charge and keep the fine pretty close to what it was as long as you don't get convicted of speeding in the amount of time the continue it for. (Usually a year) And I think Ramsey county is the easiest to get this arrangement that I've found.

Were you cooperative with the officer? Or did you try arguing? Cops will typically write notes about the stop after the pulled over leaves the scene. They use these notes on court dates to remind themselves of your cooperation. If you're uncooperative, you have less chances to deal. Where in Eau Claire were you cited?

I was all sorts of cooperative. I made mention to him that it was my first time being pulled over. He asked if I had any questions, so I asked him about the points system and how it worked. He explained it, and I then asked about insurance. He was very reasonable with me. I was not expecting a warning for doing 15 over, and with that in mind, it was a good trooper experience.
I was hit at the interesction of Hwy 37 and 85. CDR, you familiar with that area? Most people who go to Rock Falls take that road to the track.

It really depends on the county. In Hennipen and Ramsey you see the hearing officer.
