    And yet another computer question

I have a http://www.amazon.com/Presario-SR217.../dp/B000M8MWHO with Vista hogging my 1 gig mem at 50-60% at times

    I thought of this..

Just click it in and restart right?

Or is there more tightly packed mem cards where I can use two 2 gig mem cards?

Dont get me wrong I love how this computer performs but DL'ing music and programs in the future I want to think ahead..

    Buy Windows XP Pro

Wipe hard drive and get rid of Shitsta, I mean Vista.

Well, I would suggest having the computer turned off, And Power Disconnected...

Also, id check to see if you can even place it in your system.
you probobaly have 2x512 Mb Sticks right now. Which means to upgrade youll really wanna do 2x 1 gb sticks...

Make sure you get the memory type right. Not sure what that has, but if it is what you posted, PC5400, then I would get two sticks of 1 GB. Make sure you get Corsair stuff. Their RAM owns.

Nice. One stick one gig. Do they make 2 Gig sticks? The side panel came off with one thumbscrew. Access to everything in there! This thing looks pretty upgradeable! So, 2 gig sitcks in the same length?

No. Length has nothing to do with it....at least that's what' your mom told me.

RAM is by number...ex. PC3200, PC100, PC133, PC5400 etc. You have to find out what kind you have before ordering anything. Get another stick of the same stuff. I wouldn't go more than 2 gigs now for a home PC as it is expensive and for what you use your computer for, I highly doubt you would even get the benefit out of having more than 2 gigs.

Then the computer you linked to is not the same computer you have in your posession.

Agreed, I suppose rather than laughing at most of the suggestions other than what Akro posted I'll help.
Look on your Pc and read off what your modle number is, next either go to HP or let one of us do it.

Second option, take the easiest way out and go to Crucial and use their memory analyzer(sp), it will tell you everything you need to know and suggest what works best for your application. You can take that and buy what ever memory you see fit.
Personally I think Corsair and patriot have pretty good products, most people won't notice the gains from it unless they are gamers or developers. And sometimes not even then. Unless you compare them to generic bottom of the bargain bucket at microcenter memory.
