Stolen from mn-jeep:
Sign the petition, and come to the rally at the capital in April. Perhaps we may get a tax break before it is spent.
Latest projections predict a Minnesota budget surplus of $2.2 billion in the 2007 fiscal year as a result of higher than expected revenues and lower than expected spending. Without public input, the current legislature will almost certainly find a way to spend the surplus with minimal benefit to the taxpayer.
The attached link is a petition that will be formally presented to the Minnesota legislature. Five minutes is more than enough time to read and sign the petition and choose a surplus solution you think is most appropriate.
Choices are as follows:
1) Cut the income tax
2) Repeal the estate tax
3) Eliminate the taxation of capital gains as ordinary income
4) One-time rebate
You only need to provide your name and address (to prove you are a real person). Telephone number and e-mail are not necessary. Please forward this link to anyone you believe is concerned with the surplus plan.
