    Attention Taxpayers

    Stolen from mn-jeep:

Latest projections predict a Minnesota budget surplus of $2.2 billion in the 2007 fiscal year as a result of higher than expected revenues and lower than expected spending. Without public input, the current legislature will almost certainly find a way to spend the surplus with minimal benefit to the taxpayer.

The attached link is a petition that will be formally presented to the Minnesota legislature. Five minutes is more than enough time to read and sign the petition and choose a surplus solution you think is most appropriate.

    Choices are as follows:
    1) Cut the income tax
    2) Repeal the estate tax
    3) Eliminate the taxation of capital gains as ordinary income
    4) One-time rebate

You only need to provide your name and address (to prove you are a real person). Telephone number and e-mail are not necessary. Please forward this link to anyone you believe is concerned with the surplus plan.

Sign the petition, and come to the rally at the capital in April. Perhaps we may get a tax break before it is spent.

C'mon now. Show me a study that shows more $ means better results when it comes to education. There is no evidence of this. Most private schools spend way less per pupil, and have much better results. (i.e. better standardized test scores, higher g.p.a.s, percentage of graduates going to four year colleges, etc.)

                  LoL

Just wait until you see the spending proposal from the newly ellected folks....

They're going to see that get all googely eyed and find a way to spend it. I dont think i'll be wrong on this one but you're all more than welcome to call me out if i am.

2.2billion dollars? Hmm... lets see we're going to build some stadiums, then we're going to build blind mary an orphanage, some of that money will get used up for mass transportation and everyone else will weed it out in pork bills to all their special enterest groups that got them ellected.

It's because of people like you, and thinking like that, that we work until the middle of May for the government.

I can't wait for the 5 tax increases that the newly elected pinko commies in office are trying to ram down our throats. I just don't understand how anyone of sound mind can vote for a Democrat, when their #1 priority is to steal my money and give it to somone else.

Guys. Come on. Use your noggins here. You are all buying into this term "Surplus". Do you understand what this REALLY is? It's called OVER TAXED. Surplus is a wonderful euphemism created to conceal what this is. Making this more realistic, let's consider looking at this as YOUR money (which is it).

You go to BDubs to have dinner. You get and pay your bill. On the way to the car, you notice that you were substantially overcharged for your drinks.
                        1. You then approach the management of BDubs and inform them of the mistake.
                        2. They review and quickly agree about the overcharge
                        3. You expect your money back
                        4. Instead, they tell you that they are going to keep it and put it in a fund to fix their parking lot, buy new awnings and give it to people who can't pay their bills.
                        Now how to you react?

This looks like a test to determine if you are a liberal or a conservative.

                          Nice analogy, Kurt!

The only way to reign in spending is to give the government less. The one time tax credit keeps government in your pocket year after year and would only benefit property owners one time. I'd rather not pay in the first place. How many of you think it's right to take an interest free loan from someone you don't know....forceably.

                              I'm in.
