I got scammed on the internet. Who would have thunk that. I bought a turbo from a guy on NASIOC. I transfered the money more then a week ago and haven't heard from the guy since. I emailed and pm'd him multiple times to touch base with me. I payed him with paypal. Has any one here tried to get there money back through paypal? I am considering this money gone but I would like to try and get it back.

I am not really that pissed. I have boughten alot of stuff of different boards and now I think I finally got scammed. Well it was a good run while it lasted.

when I tried to get money back via paypal, the guy closed the bank account he had that account through so they couldnt do anything about it.

it was only $60, but it was the princaple of the fact.

i have filed claims with paypal... and have gotten my money back after a couple weeks. i had thousands of dollars stolen... long story

call up paypal tomorrow morning, tell them your case, and you will get your money back, i have a few friends that were in your same situation, and they all had their money refunded... gl!

He more than likely closed the account that he received the money with but I would try to get paypal to take action.

I got screwed out of a $60 dollar text book this fall but I used my credit card and they helped me. I got fully reimbursed.

Is he a frequent member on that board? You could try to PM an admin and see if they can get you his info.

If the money is not in the account, you won't get it, they will lock his account while you dispute it.

Thanks guys. I am going to contact paypal tomorrow. I have used them numbers of times without insodent. Hopefully I can get something back.
I have pm'd an admin on the board trying to get his info. We will see what happens.

Did you pay by CC? I assume you did an account transfer? Contact your bank too if that is the case.

I remember one time some kid in wisconsin tried to take me for a ride and it didn't work. I filed a claim with paypal and got ahold fo a guy that said he got his stuff, got the guy's address and went back and forth with him and told him straight out I'll drive out there and go to the police with it, I did get my money back.

I had that happen when I didn't talk to the person on the phone before hand. I sent the money and waited weeks. He stopped posting on the board where I contacted him so I was getting worried.

I spent four hours cross referencing his address and name until I finally found a phone number that I believed was his. (Wasn't his house) I called for a week and he finally picked up. I got the stuff, but some of it was damaged in shipping.

Make sure to get as much info on the seller as you can before bidding/buying and make sure to actually talk to them long enough to determine if they are a flake or not.

I always get their name and DOB and find contact info for them another way(ie some where on the net) and get a address and # and call them and ask if thats their house and home phone number, that way if i do get screwed I can just call them on their house number and read them their address. It a bit of work but it works great for saving your ass and getting your $$$$ if they try to mess with ya.
