This is sad, 63 yearold jobless man requests jail time after robbing a bank on purpos

Makes you feel for the guy.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) -- A man who couldn't find steady work came up with a plan to make it through the next few years until he could collect Social Security: He robbed a bank, then handed the money to a guard and waited for police.

On Wednesday, Timothy J. Bowers told a judge a three-year prison sentence would suit him, and the judge obliged.

"At my age, the jobs available to me are minimum-wage jobs. There is age discrimination out there," Bowers, who turns 63 in a few weeks, told Judge Angela White.

The judge told him: "It's unfortunate you feel this is the only way to deal with the situation."

You have been banned for the following reason:
Yeah, I'm really tried of cleaning up after you.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never

I laughed, he's a product of the system, a semi warm place to sleep, free meals, and a structured life. That's why some people re-offend.

So he's a quitter! He could get a job, just didn't want to. Lazy F'er! Now I have to pay for him to have a place to sleep at night! I say give him probation and send him on his way.

Well, if I was living in shelters and waiting in food lines, I could see doing that.

Hopefully, I've managed to avoid that in the future.

I agree. You have to work for anything you do. Even at his age he could get a minimum wage job and atleast attempt to work his way up. He is just looking for handouts.

I almost feel bad for him. I dont blame the judge for his decision. The old man would probably do something else until he got his way. Its a crappy situation he's in. How many people would hire an unskilled 63 year old? Its a charity case either way you look at it.

Meh, good chances are if he cant get a good job now it was probably a common thing in his life, so in prison or collecting social security are taxes are paying for it either way.

Yea, and it would be painfully difficult to live off of minimum wage, $800 a month after taxes would be hard.
