    House prices. Check out Minnesota

Damn, I feel like a cheapskate. I paid 111k for our house in 1988. Of course, I've spent 50k in repairs and maintenance since then.

Check out Minnesota. I couldn't deal with a big mortgage.

I'm looking for a house up there now... single family is out of the question unless i go out into the boonies (aka belle plaine or further). looks like a town home will be in my future... but dammit, they don't make any town homes with 6 car garages

My GF and I were thinking about a house, or even a condo, but can't afford one where we'd consider living. I went shopping one day with my mom—Kohls, Target, JCPenny, Home Depot, and a couple other stores. At the end of the day, I said to myself—not one of the sales/cust serv/etc. people I've been in contact with today can afford a house (at least at current prices).

So my question is: who keeps buying them and keeping the market prices that high? Are there really that many couples in the twin cities with a household income of over 100K? Who the hell saves up 20K+ for a down payment?

I must be one incompetent, irresponsible f*ck compared to all these super people!

/rant. I'm done feeling sorry for myself for today!

You're a stud. I remember when in highschool my mom told me to save 1/2 my checks for college, and I was like: I make 6$ an hour and you want me to save 1/2??? I guess I should have listened!

That study is a little misleading though in that it's talking about 4-bedroom houses. Not eveyone needs/has a 4-bedroom house.
