kinda wrong on the lcd stuff only going to 780i (asuming that's what you meant, there's no 780 dpi).Originally posted by LESNOVR View PostWRONG. Plasma OR DLP are better. LCD has no dark/light CONTRAST ADJUSTMENT. This is what causes them to look dark or have shadowing when you veiw from an angle. Plus I think the BEST you can get a LCD in right now is 780dpi. Now if we are talkin a small TV 20-32" I would say stay LCD to save the money. You wont know the differance at those sizes. But anything larger I would do plasma or DLP.
Sceptre makes a 37 and a 42" lcd that go 1080p http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824112174
I want one of them for a computer monitor...
that being said, plasma and DLP do look better. plasma has better, more vibrant colors than LCD, however, they cannot hit the resolution of lcd and are generally more expensive. LCD has inferior contrast/brightness to plasma but can most of the time go higher resolutions. I don't know of any 37 or 42" plasma tv's that can do 1080i/1080p. Also, if looking from an angle other than dead on, lcd tends to not look as good as plasma. Plasma TVs also have a somewhat shorter lifespan - of about 10 years, but honestly, i don't remember the last time i kept a TV in the livingroom for 10 years...
DLP does look as good if not better than plasma, is cheaper at the same size and can easily go 1080i/1080p.
the resolution the TV is capable of, i've found to be the most influencing factor in image quality... 1080i is all i can get here in phoenix, on a dlp, i have yet to see a plasma tv that looks as good as a dlp - mainly again cause i haven't seen a plasma tv do this resolution, but at lower resolutions, plasma does seem to look a bit better than dlp.
my mitsubishi dlp can do 1080p, so it's not just LCDOriginally posted by Phillyblunt474 View PostRight now, the highest resolution is 1080p, which essencially means that it has about 2x the pixles of a 720p or a 1080i tv. The problem with 1080p right now is that it is only avaiable in LCD technology

1080p Plasma...http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pn...043890,00.html
In searching for a TV you need to find whats right for you nut jsut the "best" with that said let go to the part us men care about.
Plasma tvs are the best hands down. Brightest (besids CRT) best viewing angel, more colors by about 48times as many as the closest competing tv techonology. They dont have the motion blure that DLP and rear projection LCD's have. Rear projection LCD is "sorta the same" as DLP
DLP's you have to replace the bulbs about every 1-2 years depending on usage. Same with RP-LCD(rear projection LCD).
I have yet to find a chanell that is brodcasting in 1080p. Most things out there are just being shot with normal camars and being up-scaled to 720p. The NFL and what ever other major sports events are beign shot with 720p camars. If you were to sit down and look at a video for a 720p camara vs the same vid shot with a reg camara up scaled you would notice the diffrence right away. 1080p is a ways off I think. That camars will have alot of motion blur when recording. Mitubishi has a clip out that was shot with a 1080p camara and pretty much the whole time the camara is panning very slow and most of the movement is very slow. But when someone rides a bike past you can see the blre same then the indy cars go out of the center of the camara. Ok i am done. Iwill wait and see if anybody has any questions or states "fals" facts. Not being a dick jsut trying to clearify.

And I ddint know all the LETTERS and CRAP D, P , I what ever SO I just put them all there. And I did not know that 1080 came in LCD because I am a PLASMA guy and really dont watch what the LCD'S are doing. SO. And I dont sell them so I relly dont need to know this. Looks like some of what everyone has said is right or not. I think this shit changes so damn fast you cant even keep up!Originally posted by Phillyblunt474 View PostThe 360 only does 1080i i belive but im not 100 percent on that. As far as plasmas with 1080p i havent seen or heard aobut em yet but im sure they are kickass and i want a look at oneIt is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

. I think discovery hd, MHD and INHD/INHD2 are probably the only channels that shoot stuff with true HD cameras... you're right, you can definately tell a difference between upconverted stuff and true HD recordings...

Its all good man, I used to work at Ultimate Electronics. I got paid to know this stuff. And having the reps from diffrent TV makers come in pretty much every month and letting us ask questions and showing us new stuff kinda helps.Originally posted by Fosters View PostI stand corrected on the plasma 1080p... but look at the price

HDNet has some funny stuff on there every now and then. My favorite is Hi-def Knight Rider
