I know that has to be the dumbest law. A fire extinguisher on a boat.
I got mine at HOME DEPOT , just make sure is a multi purpose , gas , oil , grease etc.It is a damn poor mind indeed which can't think of at least two ways to spell any word.

Well if you are out in the middle of a lake, your boat starts on fire and you have nowhere to go but in the water.....would really really suck balls if nobody found you until the next day just because your boat burned and sank.Originally posted by LESNOVR View PostI know that has to be the dumbest law. Even in 75 degree water hypothermia will set in within a few hours.

I think you're joking, but MN state law says you have to have one on your boat.

Hmm lets see , about 99% of the lakes I would be on have houses or Cabins all around them , Id hope somone would see the black smoldering smoke fiberglass would make when it burns. And if we are talking aluminum here. Jump out let the fucker burn what will burn and climb back in the hull!Originally posted by Tyson View PostWell if you are out in the middle of a lake, your boat starts on fire and you have nowhere to go but in the water.....would really really suck balls if nobody found you until the next day just because your boat burned and sank.

Don't Buy the Cheap ass Kidde Brand...
Go to All Safe Fire and Security on 9th and Washington in MPLS.
Go to the Front Desk Ask for Eric. Tell him Joe Sent you.
I think you can get a 2.5# Badger ABC for around 20$.
Incase your wondering why NOT to buy KIDDE... The Price alone should tell you of its Quality.
They commonly have crappy powder, that hardens inside the Cyl, If that doesnt happen, the Siphon Tube falls off,If you make it past both of that, and do have to discharge it, 9 out of 10 will NOT stop discharging until it runs out of pressure. Plastic Handles, tubes, shitty valve's and even worse springs. All of that adds up to one piece of shit product.
Spend your 12$ on an extinguisher that most likely doesnt work right. Or, spend a little more, and get something of quality.. That is, if you think your car is worth it.

why is it a big deal if it doesnt stop spraying, then atleast you know the fire is out

Sometimes too much spray is just as bad. You need to have control over it. What if the Wind were to pickup and you need to move around the fire to get a better shot at actually hitting the source? The ABC powder is extremly light, Lighter than water, lighter than baking soda. It doesnt take much to blow it away once its out. The Powder Works best when concentrated, not broken upOriginally posted by 2 beer View Postthats a hell of sales pitch
