    Anyone golf?

I need to buy a decent set of clubs. I haven't golfed in years, but in the last month I've really been getting into it. A couple of years ago, I know Ping was all the rage, but whats a decent club now?
    Not at the table, Carlos.

I got a full set of tour edge clubs a few years back. Still a good club.

I bet your best would be to look for a golf forum. There has to be one. Seems like there are forums for everything these days. I don't pay attention enough to golf to know what's the best club right now. So if I were you I would look for a golf forum of some sort and ask them what they would be a good club to get.

I think your best bet, is to find a club maker you like. Spend a couple hundread $$ more and have the shafts fitted to your height and swing style. you can usually find a decent package deal to do this.

I have tried golfing a few times and always have a blast. I dint have my own set of clubs though I just use my dads or a friends or some shit like that.

Go to a course and stop into the pro shop. Ask away, most pro shops carry many brands and would be able to guide you to what would be best for you. Then of course go buy them off the internet since it will obviously be cheaper.

                but.....

I agree. Overpriced at proshops at golf courses. Try finding a golf shop not at a course and you should find a bit better pricing. Though the best thing is to be able to try them out first. How much are you looking to spend. Last I knew my brother was looking to sell his ICW's.

Like most things, it really comes down to how much you want to spend, but also your level of skill. If you are a high handicapper don't get suckered into spending a ton of money, the guy swinging the club is 50 times more important than brand of club.... 99% of the average hackers would be a lot better if they took even a fourth of the money they spent on equipment and got a few lessons instead.... lol That being said nobody wants to play with crap either, but try to find a happy medium somewhere. If you are a mid-high handicap there are a lot of so-called "game improvement" irons out these days. They are designed to launch the ball high and go straight. You can always find knockoffs of all the major clubs too, just depends on budget. Find something you are interested in and then go search ebay, I scored a set of $700 (store price) Nike Slingshot irons w/ graphite shafts slightly used for $260 this spring.....

ya, well, watch out for the ebay specials. Half the time they're chinese knockoffs and near impossible to tell the difference unless you actually cut the clubs apart.

I highly doubt that any reputable vendors (Rock Bottom Golf, etc...) are trying to trick people with Chinese substitutes. Most knock-offs are very easy to spot, I haven't ever heard of any that were an actual attempt to make a copy so close that people would think its the real thing, most are just rough copy of the basic shape with a slightly different name applied... ymmv...

Lemme find the article my coworker had. One of the major driver vendors had clubs coming back that "weren't right". They couldn't tell the difference between the replica's and their own until they cut them up and figured out they weren't actually made of titanium.

I've been looking at Ebay, but like SFC said, I'm a bit worried about knockoffs and whatnot. I'm looking to spend maybe 400 max, cause I'm not real great I just need something that I can get back into the game with. Being lefthanded seems to cut down on buying a set unless I order them
