protestors possible

For those on here that don't know, I'm in the Army. I have the honor of performing the military honors for many of the Soldiers that are from our are that lose their lives in the line of duty. It's a hard duty, but it is a solemn one.

On this Mother's Day I am not with my family. Instead, I just arrived in Ladysmith, WI, where we will be burying the son of our Command Sergeant Major. He died as the result of an IED in Iraq a little more than a week ago.

We just found out that a group of protestors will likely be at the funeral on Tuesday. We also found out that there is a group of bikers that have made it their duty to shield the family from the protestors by getting between the two and holding up American flags to shield the family from the protestors view.

I am not asking anything of anyone on this forum. I only wanted to inform you of what's going on. Hopefully these people will not show. If they do, hopefully the bikers will be there as we are to have no interaction with these people.

It's a shame that people, especially a church organized bunch, would desicrate something as solemn as a family burying their son who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

I'll let everyone know what happens. It will likely be a few days before I'll be able to give you an update.

Why is it that no one seems to be able to seperate their feelings about this war from the feelings about our soldiers? I may think that this war wrong and that Bush lied us into it, but I will thank and support the men and women who fight it. you would think the protesters would atleast have respect for the families instead of their own agendas. maybe some of the soldiers' families would agree with them, but a funeral is not the proper occassion for that stuff.

To all of you who have and are serving, thank you. :america: Matt is in Iraq now. He is upholding his oath and commitment to support the man in the office of the President of the United States of America -regardless of who that might be. He, like LS1Z28, are doing the work to keep us free.

WE must support our President. You may not like his politics, but he is our leader. He did not lie to get us into war. He was presented with information and all who saw it thought was correct at the time. One can not look backwards (hindsight) and reinterpret it to mean that someone wilfully lied. Sorry - that did not happen! The President is an honorable man and our leader. Let's salute those who have followed his orders and who have given the ultimate sacrifice for our continued freedom.
