My wife has a '03 Jetta 1.8T and it is not all that bad of a car. I personally would not drive it. Also she has had quite a few issues with that car.

VW is known for having the worst customer service in the car industry. And also terrible at warranting their shitty engineering fuckups. Take this for instance. My mom’s employee. Drives a newer PISSAT. One coil pack goes bad, strands her. Takes it in. They fix it. Then another goes bad, strands her again. She asks to have them all replaced, they will not do it, even though they know that their coils packs are shit and have a habit of dying. They give her the runaround saying they will not pay to have it towed to the dealership or some shit like that. Anyways, 2 more coils go bad stranding her two more times. And each time they give her shit about beating the vehicle or some shit. Yeah some 55 year old woman is going to abuse a pissat. Fuck VW.

I'm somewhat of a VW fan, and even I will tell you to stay the heck away from any VW manufactured after 1998.

Screw the cars, get a Jeep and come wheeling with us this summer! Maybe you'll have more fun with the Jeep than with your car .

Something about 50 mpg and 600+ miles on a tank is attractive about TDIs

Ha ha remember the mk2 diesel Jettas? I think they got better mileage than the newer ones. But oh my god, never have I feared hills as much as that. "Am I going to get up this one?" as you're watching your speed plummet. Those things must have had a net negative horsepower number to the wheels.

I know some of you will probably gag, but I really like the 2003+ Hyndai Tiburons. They look pretty damn nice (especially the 05+ SE models), and have decent power and torque with the V6. A factory 100,000mile/10yr warrantee is pretty atractive too. Plus, they're only about $21k for a brand spankin' new one fully loaded. I've been seriously considering replacing my Neon with a used on as a daily driver. A used 2003 or 04 can be had for baout 10-14k right now.

A guy at work has a Scion Tc and this thing is quick. It has more torque than HP which is weird to see in a 4 popper N/A. It’s Toyota, so you know it’ll last and goes for 16,000 brand new. I like them, and would consider one, but I want 4 doors.

I'm going to second the motion by Scot.
I've got a 2003 Hyundai Tiburon with the v6 and the automatic. It's one hell of a good daily driver, snappy and looks decent.
It's black, with black leather, and the interior flat out kicks ass. The seats are better than any I've seen in ANY Mustang.

Oh yeah, I paid 11,000 for it a few months ago, with 20,000 miles on the clock. That means 40,000 more on the warranty as I'm the second owner.
32 mpg on the freeway helps too.
