Cross posted to a number of boards to aid my fellow gear-head.
This is about my recent disappointment with one of the local boneyards - John's Auto Parts. I posted this on John's own forum - but I doubt it will last long there.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
So my son's Jeep Cherokee gets broken into - they take (break) out the wing window.. They steal the radio and screw up the dash nicely in the process..
Well - he's hurting now as he just had a major surgery and can't do much for himself.
He needs a wing window. First call - John's (where else).. Yep we've got one. $25. Comeon down.
I get on the website here and check availability one more time before I make the 25 mile trek. The website shows it. Son calls them again and confirms that this wing window will work in his Cherokee. Yep it'll work just fine they say.
So I go ahead and drive up there and talk with Brian there who asks me who I talked to. I didn't talk to anyone. Don't know who my son talked to. Told him about the part being on the website and my son had called to confirm that it was in stock and called again to make sure that it would work in his vehicle. He asked what price was quoted and I said $25 on the phone and it was also the price on the website. He clicked on the computer another minute or so and said;
I don't have that part here. We have one old Cherokee in the yard, it may or may not have the glass you're looking for. If you want to go out and see and then take it out, I'll sell it to you. Or you can pay one of my guys to take it out for you.
Well, that's a problem I said. I don't have any tools with me and now you're talking about me having to pay an additional charge for one of your guys to pull it. I'm out of here.
Well John's - all I can say is that while the number of boneyards in metro area is decreasing and you used to be the best - you're not the only option. I drove 50+ miles for the "fun of it" and since I can't count on your folks to maintain at least a rudimentary skill of communication within your own business and to me, the consumer, I'm taking my business elsewhere.
Meanwhile $.10 worth of duct tape is doing the job.
Thank you for your time.

P.S. I doubt that this message will last long here - so I will be posting it on other electronic forums as well to warn my fellow gearhead to GET A NAME from your phone jockey before he wastes his time like I wasted mine.
