i have the xp disc with the code...it's the update, not the actual xp so you have to have 98 first (and i think me is compatible too).
i got it for $80 at best buy. the sale had expired, but they never took the sign down so I got $20 off...

Hell go and spend $400 or $500 on a new computer then if you do not want to sink money into your 933. The new computer will come with XP pre-installed on it.
I do not buy upgrade versions of Operating Systems cause I want to always be able to install with the current OS without installing any other version first. I also do not support software piracy.

I'm pretty sure since Windows 95 all you needed to do was insert the install disc to prove you owned the old version.Originally posted by Video_MasterI do not buy upgrade versions of Operating Systems cause I want to always be able to install with the current OS without installing any other version first. You are correct, The upgrade disk is still a full version of XP. It just will just ask for the the 95,98,ME disk during the install. You can install on a empty hard drive and be up and running in no time

You sillys.
DO NOT buy a full version Win XP from a retailer such as Best Buy. Instead, go to www.newegg.com and pick up an OEM copy. XP home is around 80 or 90 I believe, and XP Pro can be found here:
Gasp! It is OEM however, and must be purchased with hardware! Most people usually buy a bigger hard drive anyways when upgrading (which is transferable to a new computer when you build it), even if you spend $100 on the hard drive, you still pay less than the retail version. However, some retailers I have been known to link to have been known to release OEM software with as little of a hardware purchase as a $10 mouse.Originally posted by NickThe choice is easy.
