Anyone on here a proud snomobile owner? LOL

I was just sitting here thinking of something to B.S. about, so the first thing that popped into my head was snowmobiling. I love to ride sled and have been doing it since age 5, even though we have had 2 horsesh!t winters in a row now.
I currently own a 99 CAT ZRT600 with PSI pipes and some other goodies, i also own a 1975 Mercury Snotwister 340 FA, i picked that up last fall and fixed it up and went to Waconia Feb 1st and 2nd, they have a huge vintage snowmobile meet there every year, last year they had 80 entries in the vintage drag race, this year they had 164 entries, it was awesome, they also have a vintage ride around the lake.
When the dragracing with the car stops because of winter, it just continues in the winter with the snowmobiles, especially the last two winters, played on the ice the whole time last winter.

So if anyone else on this website likes to do the same thing i do in the winter, let me know, and maybe we could do some stuff like that this winter.

    TONY.

i have one and i LOVE to snowmobile!!! have been since the years of begging my dad to get one finally paid off with when i was 11 years old and we got a 1976 arctic cat jag 340!! haha, the first time i opened that thing off i almost got thrown off the back i thought it was so fast. then we got a 1981 polaris ss 440.. this thing really surprised me with it's speed. we rebuilt the entire rear suspension on it. for what it was, it was pretty damn fast WHEN it was tuned right... that was the problem though, one day when it was 10 degrees it'd run great, and then when it'd go up to 30 it'd run fat. i probably swapped jets in that thing 50 times for varying weather conditions.
then we got a 96 arctic cat jag deluxe air cooled, and then a ZL 500 that is my current.. but over the last two years i have put on very few miles due to weather and school. and this winter i wanted to buy one that i could own myself since i don't live at home anymore... but this engine project i did completely killed my hopes of that this year.
we have a farmhouse up in wright (not wright county) MN with a few hundred acres, TONS of public land around, and a snowmobile trail that goes right by our property so alot of my high school winter weekend were up there playing in the snow.
god, now i actually WANT it to snow thinking of this.
<awaits flamers for saying i want it to snow>

Dude, cool, my first sled was a 1980 jag 340 F/C, i got that when i was 11 also, my sled before that was a 1972 Kitty Kat, got it for my b-day when i was 5.

I like to ride 4 wheeler too, i have a Yamaha Raptor 660. And the back bar is pretty tweaked, cause the front end comes up so dang easy when you hit the throttle, but im getting used to it now.

Im not sure how old you are, but im 30, i can remember back in like 1983. we had sooooo much snow that year, either my dad had to take his 1977 Pantera and make a path around the house so i could ride my Kitty Kat, or i had to pack the snow down with my feet, we have not had a winter like that since.

Cool, i have been to the UP once, Houghton Michigan actually, that was in 99, i had a blast. Im going to have to get there this winter if we dont get any snow here. Last winter, the friend that is having the cruise on Labor day weekend, also has a Dragrace for sleds on the ice, so i left the steel ice picks in my track, Im going on the philosophy that it will snow alot if i leave them in the track, and i will have to change them. Hopefully it works, hahaha.

i'm not as old as you
i never did have a kitty cat, but my little bro got one a few years ago and has since grown out of it, but i remember he couldn't go anywhere off our little 4 wheeler trails (trails we have through the woods on our land) without getting stuck.
i'd have to make tracks for him with my sled through our hayfields just so he could go somewhere without getting stuck!

but i remember... it must have been about 8 or 9 years ago now that duluth had their record snowfall of somewhere in the 170"-180" range... we still had our older sleds then (the cat had metal cleats too) and anywere you'd go even with those you'd just BURY.

1998 Polaris XC 700 here. 1.5" track, reverse, SLP skis, etc. I also have a '91 Yamaha SnoSport and a '73 Kitty Kat (With the leopard print seat!) Gotta have toys for when my nephews visit. The Fiance has a '98 Trail, too. She bought it herself and even had her own sled before we met!

We are both very active with our local snowmobile club and I am also on the Board for the County Trail Association. Both of us are also Board members on the Northland 300 charity ride for Special Olympics of MN, too.

So...yeah.... I am in to snowmobiling. (When it snows!)

I have been to Yellowstone a few times, Cooke City MT, Missoula MT, Lolo Hot Springs MT, Ten Sleep WY, and the UP with the sleds.

Where do you guys normally ride? Where have you been? Where do you want to go?

I have a 2000 Ski Doo MXZ 700 (stock). I ussually go up to my buddies cabin just south of Brainard near Harding, MN, he stores it for me I live in an apartment. Otherwise I have been up to the UP three times in the last two years. We ussually go to Big Powderhorn Mountian and stay next to the Pub and Grub. I would love to try somewhere farther east in the UP, the trails are REALLY beat down where we ride(ie. 3-4 ft moguls). This is actually my first sled, I picked it up a couple years ago.

I think it would be sweet if everyone in the club that rides got together this winter. Does anyone know any good trails around here, I am not into ditch riding too much? All my experiences with snowmobiling in MN is there ussually isn't enough snow and the trails are POORLY marked.

That would be an excellent idea, im all for it if we get some snow, the trails around RedWing are pretty fun, The last winter when we had some decent snow, That would be 3 years ago this coming winter, i put 1800 miles on my ZRT just from riding in this area.
