UW-Madison says no outsiders this Halloween

Big news out of Madison about the legandary Halloween parties that go on each year. All outsiders are banned from campus and parking lots will be baracaded.

The university plans to barricade parking lots and ban guests from campus dormitories. It also has sent letters to other universities throughout Wisconsin and the Midwest saying "out-of-town guests are not welcome at UW-Madison from Friday, Oct. 28, through Tuesday, Nov. 1."

The focus on out-of-towners is legitimate, said interim dean of students Lori Berquam. City records show that of the 450 arrests last year, only 59 were UW-Madison students. About 27 percent of the citations were to students from Minnesota.

"We don't mean to be unwelcoming," Berquam said. "They're welcome any other time but Halloween. We want our city to still stand. I have really implored our students to take back Halloween."

There is NO WAY they can prevent non-wisconsin students from going to madison and participating in parties. Can't be done. What, will everyone need to have a barcode tatooed to their foreheads and be scanned everywhere they go? Ridiculous.

They can't ban parents from visiting. They can't ban siblings from visiting. They can't enforce checking of ids for everyone and disallowing people from entering the city. So, park elsewhere. Stay off-campus and go to parties off University property. We can all recognize the need to restrain aberrant behavior. However, This WILL backfire on them BIG-TIME

No, but they can hand out public intoxication to * out of towners, and throw them in the drunk tank. They may not be able to officially ban them, but they sure can make it a PITA for any that go.
