Honda owner gets owned by insurance company...

Guy got the bright idea to try and convert his 99 civic to right hand drive. His insurance company and the DMV told him otherwise.

Well, as some of you know i converted my car to rhd. Got a ek ctr front clip, b16b, etc.. etc.. well sure enough when i went to renew my insurance they asked to see the car. The guy came out and look inside, and shook his head.. and then asked me to bring the car in so they could inspect it. Sure enough they reported it as totaled and now it's illegal to drive.

They called the cops and had it towed to my house.


DO NOT CONVERT TO RHD. Very expensive lesson learned. I now have a totaled 99 civic, that i can't get insurance on, or put on the road. Yay for inspection, the dmv, and my insurance company.

A person wouldn't import a car from Japan unless they were rich as hell and set on that car. It costs like 30k for a Nissan Skyline, but it costs almost 40k and a whole shit ton of paper work just to clear it with the United States and the trade policies

first off you can drive and insure a totalled vehicle.. you just cannot put full coverage back on it.. I am driving my truck and it was totalled in March i just finished re-building it last month. and i have comp coverage on it and thats it. this story seems fake.



Oh and to all the sceptics about totalled vehicles if your vehicle is valued at less than 5000.00 it does NOT! get reported to teh state and you do NOT! get a salvage or branded title, so buyer beware.
