Ok, I have an "extra" 96 DOHC 5 speed coupe.
Its going to be my winter beater, and want to do something crazy actually. I dont care too much about the car, but want everything to be right, and doing this on the cheap.
Heres the plan, I want to make it mad max style. When done, It will sport some flat black rattle can!
I have a set of 215/75/15 Winterforce tires from my old dakota sitting around that are like new. Id really like to uses these beasts on my car!
Me and a co worker talked about welding up a light bar to put on the front bumper with some massive driving lights, and I added the idea of a winch on the front too.
The car has a spun rod bearing and will be gettng a 2.4 from a stratus, so it will have some torque, and i believe it has a 3.55 tranny from a SOHC already. Decnet "stump pulling gears!"
I may look for a slightly used SRT clutch to put in along with a LSD.
So now with my goal set, I need to accomplish it.
I have a set of stock SRT springs sitting in the garage, I plan on putting these on the stock 96 struts, as I guess they are suppsoe to raise the car an inch. I have some prothane control arm bushings that will be goin in, and an extra Mopar rear sway bar also.
Now for the tires, these things are pretty fuggin tall, 215/75/15s. Gotta pick up some PT steelies to put them on. Now, the tires will effectively raise the car, but will they rub on anything? Who knows! Guess well find out.
Now can I raise the body off the suspension!?
I thought about seing if the bolts from the struts could be coaxed out, with some longer/stronger ones put in place. and 2" spacers made....
Whats everyone think?
Im gonna try and keep the cost of all the mods/motor/parts under $1000, as I have alot laying around.
I need to RAISE my neon!
If everything goes well, it will sport a cherry bomb, whip CB antenna and skid plate too.
