    Selling Advice

Well, I've never sold a car outright before, but the Mach is on the selling block.

Any advice from those that have sold cars before to make sure all goes smoothly?

    Managing Title Transfer etc???

Make sure you get cash or a cashiers check for payment. NO personal checks. Also, physically go with the buyer to the DMV to transfer the title. Otherwise, there is a good chance the buyer won't and you'll be screwed. Protect yourself.

Yes, go to the DMV with the buyer. People find the oddest reasons to not transfer the title, so MAKE SURE it happens.

Approve of above statements. Bought ans sold probably 60 or more cars in my life, and I have learned the hard way.

Dave's statement sums it up. Go into it assuming the person is going to screw you blind if given the opportunity, so try your best NOT to give them that opportunity. Sucks that it has to be that way, but onfortunately it does.

The best deal is to sell to somebody you know fairly well, but obviously that doesn't happen too often.

Good luck, sure sounds like a nice car you're selling...

Cash, Money Order, Or certified check, as noted, NO personal checks, unless you know the person.

If you cant go with to the DMV, its closed or whatever, just make sure you have the little portion of the title card filled out, so you can bring that to the DMV, then the DMV has the card stating the car was sold, even if they dont go to the DMV, they will then notify the purchaser to transfer the title.

I personally fill out as little as poss on titles PRIOR to going to the DMV, I have them tell ME what to fill out and do it their.
Nothing worse then screwing up on a title, can make a big hassle...

Unless of course the wife/ other person on the title who also needs to sign the title correction form happens to be "waiting in the car in the parking lot"
You have been banned for the following reason:
Yeah, I'm really tried of cleaning up after you.
Date the ban will be lifted: Never
